“ Her music shows nuance and sophistication — and prodigious talent.”
Since first picking up a guitar at age 7, and writing her first song two years later, 19-year-old Emily Margaret has refined her craft under the guidance of industry veterans, including June Millington at the Institute of Musical Arts and two time grammy award winner Sonya Kitchell. Drawing inspiration from R&B, jazz, and folk influences, she crafts a soulful folk sound that showcases her lyricism and her dynamic, velvety voice.
Emily Margaret’s early formative performances include providing backup vocals for Lake Street Dive at the Newport Folk Festival at age 11 and opening for the Boxcar Lilies at the Iron Horse Music Hall at age 12.
She has gone on to perform at notable venues including Hawks and Reed, The Stone Church, Next Stage Arts and Billsville. A multi-genre and versatile performer, she can be found performing solo, as a duo or with a band. She has shared the stage with a wide variety of artists including Americana artist Ken Pomeroy, singer songwriters Hayley Reardon and Sam Robbins, blues guitarist Amani Burnham, and bands with genres ranging from alt-indie to jam bands including Juice, Thus Love and Hayley Jane Band.
“Margaret’s silky vocals shine, and her lyrics display a maturity far beyond her years. ”

“R&B-flavored pop and jazz-rock that revolves around her dynamic, velvet-soft voice. There’s no asterisk beside Margaret’s songs; these aren’t “good for a kid” or “full of promise.” Her music shows nuance and sophistication — and prodigious talent.”
Seven Days Vermont
“[Breakfast in Spain] has a jazz-pop feel, with a crisp, samba-influenced rhythm tethering chords on guitar and piano while Emily Margaret sings in a bright, limber voice...Excavator Man is a folk-pop number with a hooky repeating guitar figure and vocals that offer a sense of Emily Margaret’s range. ”
Freak Scene
“Emily Margaret is an astonishingly talented singer-songwriter. Like "take your breath away" talented. Watching her perform in front of our packed museum gala audience was something I'll never forget -- just Emily, her guitar, and her achingly beautiful voice. We were spellbound.”
