House Concert FAQ
Why host a house concert? House concerts create a unique and intimate concert experience, and provide a way for hosts/guests to support an independent artist.
Do I need a large space? No, a living room or a roomy deck can work. This video shows how to set up a concert in your living room.
What equipment do I need? Chairs, a table for merch (CDs etc) and mood lighting (e.g.dimmed lights or twinkle lights) I will bring my guitar, mic and other audio equipment needed.
How is the musician compensated? Let your guests know the suggested donation ahead of time. Collect the donations at the door or pass the hat during the intermission.
Should I provide food and drinks? Refreshments are a good idea. You can provide them or do it potluck style.
How does the evening typically run? I can customize based on your needs, but typically I play 2 sets that are about 30 minutes each with a 15 mins break in between. Allow about 30-40 minutes before show time for guests to arrive, get a snack/drink, mingle and find a seat. Leave time at the end for guests to chat with each other and me, buy CDs etc.
